Wedding Survival - Emergency Kit | 37 Essential Items That Can Save Your Wedding Day!

Having a Wedding Survival Kit or Emergency Kit is essential for your big day! We hope this kit will help you be prepared to handle anything!

Having a Wedding Survival Kit or Emergency Kit is essential for your big day! We believe in being as prepared as possible to handle any situation that gets thrown at us; on your wedding day this is even more important! Weddings have a lot of moving parts and as with anything in life, sometimes things don’t go exactly as planned. With everything that couples already have to think about on their big day it’s easy to forget little things like sunscreen or heel protectors (yes these are a thing guys). We hope this kit will help you be prepared to handle anything that comes your way on your special day! (Except zombies… this kit won’t help with zombies, just saying)

Wedding Survival/Emergency Kit!

From The Neck Up

  • Bobby Pins – These have so many uses!
  • Floss Sticks – The last thing you want is to remember the broccoli you had right before your portraits for the rest of your life.
  • Travel Pack of Tissues – Girls: Tears and makeup don’t mix well. Guys: OK fine… you’re not crying, you have something in your eye, it’ll still look better if you dry it.
  • Mints or Mouth Wash Strips – You WILL be kissing… keep it fresh
  • Back-up contacts or Back-up glasses – Things happen, make sure you can see them!
  • Eye Drops – You don’t want to have bloodshot eyes in all of your images after crying. (I mean having something in your eye)
  • Extra Earing Backs – You know they always go missing. They’re like bobby pins; you either have million or none at all, there is no in-between.
  • Chapstick – No one likes kissing cracked lips! This goes for both of you.
  • Travel Hair Spray – Picture this, the makeup artist already left for the day and that one hair strand won’t stay put! You got this!
  • Blotting Paper – Sweat and makeup don’t get along. Keep these around in case you need these during the day.

From The Neck Down

  • Travel Size Deodorant for him and her – It’s going to be a long day full of movement. From walking around the venue, posing, dancing, and who knows what else. The last thing you want is to do this without deodorant or worst, do this with someone who doesn’t have deodorant. Consider stain free deodorant.
  • Perfume – Keep her smelling great all day!
  • Cologne – Keep him smelling great all day!
  • Sunscreen – Cancer’s bad mhkay.
  • Travel pack of Wet Ones – Dancing in a Wedding dress makes you sweaty. Trust us, it’s better for everyone this way.
  • Lady essentials – Hopefully you don’t need them, but hey things happen.
  • Bug Spray – This goes anywhere but especially here in South Florida. If you’re having an outdoor ceremony during the summer, bug bites will kill the mood and don’t look great in pictures. We recommend having some for your guests as they arrive as well.
  • Baby Powder – Chaffing isn’t fun.
  • Snacks – You’re not yourself when you’re hungry. Grab a nondescript candy bar that features chocolate, caramel, peanuts, and nougat. We also recommend bringing your favorite snack that doesn’t require refrigeration! (Mind your allergies on this one, and your guests)
    1. Granola Bars
    2. Almonds
  • Nail File (mini) – Avoid jagged edges from a broken nail snagging on that beautiful dress of yours.
  • Clear Nail Polish (mini) – What if you chip a nail throughout the day? Fix it and get back to your celebration!
  • Nail Clippers – There’s no need to rip off half of your finger to remove that hang nail.

First Aid Essentials

    • Mini First Aid Kit – This is a must! I honestly wouldn’t even leave the house without this anyway but can be a life saver on a wedding day. Whichever kit you decide to go with (we recommend First Aid Only 299 Piece All-Purpose First Aid Kit), below are a few of the things you might expect to find in varying sizes and brands.
      • Band-Aids
      • Acetaminophen
      • Ibuprofen
      • Aspirin
    • Non-Drowsy Antihistamine – If you have allergies, you already know how important these are. If you don’t, ask yourself if anyone that will be at your wedding has allergies.
      1. Benadryl
      2. Claritin
    • Pepcid AC – No one wants acid reflux on their big day, but we can’t always control that. These are great to have on hand.
    • **If you don’t get the Mini first aid kit and want to get all of the first aid medicine in travel size packs check out The Complete Medicine First Aid Kit by Medique. This is what I typically use to replenish my personal first aid kit.**
    • Gas X – No one wants to think about gas on their wedding day but these can be a real life saver!

Wardrobe Malfunctions

    • Safety Pins – Ever since finding out that these can be attached to a dress or skirt to prevent static cling, this has become a staple in this kit. Not to mention all of the other possible uses for these.
    • Small Sewing Kit – Don’t let that missing button or rip ruin your day, sew it back together and get back out there! (Speaking of rips, if you’re in a fitted suite guys… don’t squat too low during dances, it can end badly)
    • Tide to Go Sticks – Keep that wedding dress white!
    • White Chalk – The stain didn’t come out with the tide stick? Rub some white chalk on it and no one will notice!
    • Heel Protectors – If you have to walk across grass at any point in the day, these are a must! We recommend getting a set for everyone wearing heels in your bridal party. There’s nothing worse than sinking into the ground with your expensive heels. (Guys if you bring this up, she WILL be impressed)
    • Lint Roller – Keep your outfit looking fresh!
    • Lighter – Get rid of strings sticking out or frayed edges on dresses.

Misc.

    • Phone Charger – The last thing you want to do is have to look for a phone charger or send someone back to the hotel room to get yours.
    • Clear Umbrella – It’s hard to predict the weather when you book your venue 9 months to a year in advance. We recommend having enough of these for each bridal party member. If it doesn’t rain, you can return them as long as you kept all of the tags on.
    • Superglue – If we got into how many things I’ve had to fix with super glue we’d be here all day.
    • Tape – See superglue

Make sure to put together your wedding survival/emergency kit about a week before your wedding day and don’t use it before the big day!

You probably have most of these lying around the house already. If you do go ahead and gather what you have and make sure to get the rest. To save you some time, we’ve included links to most of the items on Amazon. Some of the items are bulk orders so you can give some out to your bridesmaids and groomsmen.

Additional Tips

  • If you will be ordering a lot of things for your wedding day like Ashley and I did. You may want to sign up for an Amazon Prime Account if you don’t have one already. Most items have FREE 1-day or 2-day shipping, some have same day shipping, and returning items is a breeze. We ended up ordering a lot of our DIY items right from our phone while planning.

  • If you haven’t already done so, go ahead and sign up for an Amazon Wedding Registry. This is a great way to add things you may want or need from any store without having to leave the house; this will also get you a 20% discount if you’re a prime member or 10% if you’re not a member. This discount is valid at the time of writing, please check on the Amazon website for a full list of benefits for their Wedding Registry.

We hope you found our Wedding Survival/Emergency Kit helpful and that you feel more prepared for anything that comes your way on your big day! Except for zombies, we didn’t go over that, but you’ll probably be fine.

We wish you the best of luck on your wedding day!
